Sourcing blankets for a donation or relief drive
A donation drive is solving a different problem from a gift or a retail sale — most people warmed per rupee, on a fixed timeline. Here's how that changes what to actually order.

CSR teams, NGOs and community groups sourcing blankets for a winter relief or donation drive are optimising for something specific: the largest number of people covered, from a fixed budget, by a fixed date. That’s a different brief from a gift or a retail purchase, and it should lead to a different order, not just a bulk version of the same one.
Function over finish, deliberately
This is one of the clearest cases where a plain, well-made blanket beats a premium one on the metric that actually matters. Our mink versus plain polyester comparison covers this directly — utility and relief supply is exactly where function outweighs finish, and putting the budget into more blankets rather than a softer pile on fewer of them is usually the right call.
The weight that fits
For pure cold-weather utility rather than a luxury throw, the lighter end of the range is usually the right target — the same 1300–1600 g bracket that suits hostel and institutional supply, covered in our guide to reading GSM and weight. It keeps per-piece cost down without leaving anyone under-covered for the conditions a relief drive is usually responding to.
Single ply, at volume, is usually the efficient choice
Single ply vs double ply matters here too: at a fixed budget, single ply at a good weight covers more people than double ply at a compromised one. Double ply earns its cost where a blanket is washed and reused for years by one household — a relief drive distributing one blanket per recipient is a different equation.
Branding is optional, and doesn’t need to be elaborate
Some CSR-sponsored drives want a simple acknowledgement — a printed sleeve or a woven label naming the donor or organisation — rather than full gift-box treatment. That’s available as an add-on; see the branding options on our gifting page for what’s possible, at whatever minimum quantity the drive is actually ordering.
Stock-in-hand matters more than usual here
We hold 500+ pieces of every colourway in stock rather than making to order. For a relief drive, that generally matters more than it would for a retail buyer — a uniform-colour bulk order can often be filled from existing stock, which is the difference between meeting a drive’s date and missing it.
Documentation
Every order is invoiced against our GST registration, which is generally what a CSR or NGO buyer needs for their own expenditure records — we can’t speak to tax treatment on your side, but the paperwork on ours is straightforward.
Tell us the quantity, weight and timeline for the drive and we’ll confirm what’s realistic against current stock, or see the full range to work out the weight yourself first.
